I've worked in the industry now for 12 years, working across a wide range of projects and with some fantastic companies.
I consider myself a generalist within Animation. I originally come from a fine art background with traditional painting/drawing and sculpting skills. I started my career in Animation as a Technical Manager at Sherbet and have an up-to date knowledge of the technical requirements of any given project.
I enjoy getting involved in a project as early as possible, designing, storyboarding and throwing around ideas and concepts. I have a long and in depth knowledge of what hardware and software will suit the project in hand, as well as coming up with workflow solutions. I'm happy directing and leading groups and despite being a soloist/generalist, thrive working in a team.
I've worked on many commercials, documentaries, film titles, tv series and broadcast graphics.
Styles include; cartoon, stylised or photo-real, stop-motion, cut-out, CGI, flash drawn, motion graphics 2D & 3D.
I work within the disciplines of 2D and 3D, often mixing both. I'm a generalist with Cinema 4D, also modelling in Modo and Lightwave. I use Flash for hand drawn and 2D animation and Photoshop for art-working backgrounds and creating textures. After Effects is my main finishing tool for motion graphics and compositing. Final Cut Pro and Premiere are used for editing and animatics.
I also regularly use all the major plugins for After Effects and Cinema 4D such as: Form, Particular, Plexus to name a few.
I shoot footage with a DSLR and track with the foundry camera tracker.
Companies I've work for include; Nexus, Passion Pictures, Airside, Uli Meyer, Cartoon Network, The Mill, BBC, Berg, Unit, AKQA, Sherbet, Th1ng and others
